Howdy!
How are you?
WordPress ships with US English by default, however there is also a GB WordPress available for jolly hard working chaps like us to install
I say! Why not jolly well retro fit your GB English
Although WordPress now includes built-in capabilities for language switching, it doesn’t actually ship with proper British English. So you if you haven’t installed the GB WordPress version, it’s not too late to add it now.
CREATE a ‘languages’ folder in your ‘wp-content’ folder
Download the British English Full WordPress Install .zip
OPEN the .zip and find the folder called ‘languages’ in ‘wp-content’
In the ‘Languages’ folder you’ll find some en_GB.mo and en_GB.po type files – copy them across to your new folder
Go to ‘SETTINGS’ in the back-end of WordPress and look for ‘Site Language’ – choose English (UK) from the pull down menu
Finally – whack this in your wp-config.php just above the line that says:
/* That’s all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */
/** * WordPress Localized Language, defaults to English. * * Change this to localize WordPress. A corresponding MO file for the chosen * language must be installed to wp-content/languages. For example, install * de.mo to wp-content/languages and set WPLANG to 'de' to enable German * language support. */ define ('WPLANG', 'en_GB');
If you’re successful WordPress will greet you with ‘How are you?’ not ‘Howdy!’ in the very top right of your screen.
If all else fails… read the boring instructions!
thanks for sharing
No problem!
