How are you?<\/p>\n

WordPress<\/a> ships with US English by default, however there is also a GB WordPress<\/a> available for jolly hard working chaps like us to install<\/p>\n

I say! Why not jolly well retro fit your GB English<\/h1>\n

Although WordPress now includes built-in capabilities for language switching, it doesn’t actually ship with proper British English. So you if you haven’t installed the GB WordPress<\/a> version, it’s not too late to add it now.<\/p>\n

CREATE a ‘languages’ folder in your ‘wp-content’ folder<\/p>\n

Download the British English Full WordPress Install .zip<\/a><\/p>\n

OPEN the .zip and find the folder called ‘languages’ in ‘wp-content’<\/p>\n

In the ‘Languages’ folder you’ll find some en_GB.mo and en_GB.po type files – copy them across to your new folder<\/p>\n

Go to ‘SETTINGS’ in the back-end of WordPress and look for ‘Site Language’ – choose English (UK) from the pull down menu<\/p>\n

Finally – whack this in your wp-config.php just above the line that says:<\/p>\n

If you’re successful WordPress will greet you with ‘How are you?’ not ‘Howdy!’ in the very top right of your screen.<\/p>\n
