He was born in <a title=\"Paris\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Paris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Paris<\/a> and is the son of singer <a title=\"Mich\u00e8le Arnaud\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mich%C3%A8le_Arnaud\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Mich\u00e8le Arnaud<\/a>. In 1966, he represented France at the Eurovision Song Contest with the song <a class=\"mw-redirect\" title=\"Chez Nous\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Chez_Nous\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Chez Nous<\/a>. At the close of voting, it had received just 1 point, placing it 16th in a field of 18 competitors. <a title=\"Serge Gainsbourg\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Serge_Gainsbourg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Serge Gainsbourg<\/a> wrote seven songs for him between 1966 and 1969. However the songs were not well received, arguably due to the harsh, at times misogynistic lyrics.
